A little more about our teachers...
Mary K Driskell - Seedlings & Sprouts Teacher
I am thrilled and grateful to be a part of Geist Orchard Cooperative Preschool, teaching both the Seedlings & Sprouts. I am surrounded by "gifted" parents who are excited to take an active role in their children's early learning years. Parent involvement is one of the most consistent predictors of a child's success and achievement at school. Cooperative preschool is a great place to be involved and have lots of fun too!
I am married and have three co-op children. In my 5 years as a co-op Mom, I held several Board of Directors positions including, Communication, Parent Education and Class Representative. I was also a co-op kid myself growing up. I am blessed to be the Mom of a child with special needs. This experience continues to transform my life and has made me passionate about children's health issues and the social and emotional development of children. I graduated from Bowling Green State University with a BS in Visual Communications and worked briefly as Account Executive for a marketing communications firm before choosing to stay at home and care for my children. I enjoy spending time with family and friends, exercising, cooking and being creative.
Lynn Jones - Twigs Teacher
My name is Lynn Jones and I am the GOCP Twigs teacher. Let me tell you a little bit about myself. I have a son, Evan and a daughter, Ellie who are both graduates of cooperative preschool. I was a member of the preschool for 5 years and in that time, I had various jobs; among them were V.P. of Parent Education, Secretary and President.
After my children graduated, I went on to become a teacher at the preschool, teaching the 18 month old class. I was also the Enrichment Aide for the 3-5 year old mixed age class.
In August 2010, I became the 4-5s teacher at Geist Orchard Co-operative Preschool. In addition to being a co-op teacher, I also am a volunteer reading tutor at my daughter’s elementary school. For the past six years, I’ve worked with 1st graders who are struggling with reading and writing and need that extra attention to help them succeed. I am also my daughter’s Girl Scout Troop leader.
Before I had kids, I was a Speech/Language Pathologist working in long term care, then in First Steps. First Steps is a program that targets children from birth to three years old who are developmentally delayed. As a First Steps therapist, I was able to work with children who had severe developmental disabilities, children with autism and children with speech/language delays caused by hearing loss and chronic ear infections. I have a Master’s degree in Speech/Language Pathology and Bachelor’s degrees in Communicative Disorders and Psychology and a minor in music.
I am looking forward to a fun and play-filled year!
